As I sit down to write this letter many thoughts are at the forefront of my mind regarding the safety and well-being of my Residents; one of which is when will I be able to reunite my Residents with their loved ones? I know the importance of social and familial interaction and the difference it makes to the overall well-being of my Residents. I eagerly await the day in which it is safe and advisable by the New York State Department of Health to allow for the return of regular visitation procedures. Until then, I thank you for your understanding and cooperation with the visitation restrictions which are put into place to enhance the safety and well-being of our Residents.
Understandably these times may bring frustration, confusion and fear to many. I urge you to send your loved one letters if you wish to do so. I would also like to remind you that our Activity Department is happy to arrange a phone call or a Face Time session with your loved one for you. You can do this by calling the Activity Department at 718-461-5000. You may also contact your Social Worker at 718-461-5000 for any emotional support you may require or to answer questions you have about your loved one.
Lastly, I would like to remind you that we have established a COVID-19 hotline phone number (718-321-1984) to call should you wish. In compliance with the current guidance from the New York State Department of Health, this hotline will be updated within 24 hours regarding any new developments, positive or negative (resolved cases, new cases or virus related deaths ), that take place in the facility.
Again, I thank you for your support of our Resident’s and staff during this time. I also thank you for your patience while we all navigate the fluid COVID-19 Pandemic.
